The delivery of mental health services in schools is a rising occurrence in K-12 academic settings. Historically, school counselors have been the dominant provider of counseling services for students. However, the implementation of school based mental health counseling is increasing, and collaboration between the two entities is important in providing the best care for students. This transcendental phenomenological study aimed to explore the perceptions of school based mental health counselors who collaborate with school counselors in a K-12 academic setting. The findings of this study capture the perspective of the mental health counselor in this conversation and contribute to the ongoing continuum of care framework to optimize wellness in schools. In addition, the findings of this study can be used for counselor education, orientation of school based mental health counselors, and professional organization advocacy.en_US
