Abstract

In this thesis, the basic theory behind vibratory MEMS gyroscopes will be discussed to show how some of the design parameters originate. Also, a survey of commercially available MEMS gyros will be presented. In addition, a further survey of new developments in MEMS gyros that are taking place today will be put forth. Furthermore, the methods for data extraction and sound level manipulation will be described. Next, the typical electrical output response to various sound pressure levels will be shown. Finally, trends in the data such as mean and standard deviation will be presented followed by conclusions and ideas for further work.
