This research aims to investigate the lean production tools and techniques in the oil and gas industry with a focus on the oilfield services industry. A combination of email and web based electronic survey, three plant trips to oilfield companies and an on- site interview from one of the survey respondents are used to analyze the usage of lean production tools in the oil and gas industry. The survey results and conclusions show that although there is a certain degree of awareness regarding lean production in the oil and gas industry, the level of lean implementation is still at a primitive stage.en_US
