dc.description.abstract | In the last twenty-five years, economists have developed and tested the hypothesis that the member institutions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association behave as a cartel and contrive market power in the sports of football and men’s basketball. Study then shifted to the self-regulation and maintenance of said cartel. This thesis reviews the aforementioned literature on the subject, and then offers new data for testing the monitoring process of the college football cartel. | en_US |
