The purpose of this study was to gain understanding into the development of body image in men by examining the Gender Self-Socialization Model. Specifically, the study assessed variables related to gender roles, masculine body ideals, and body image satisfaction to explore their potential relationships and influences between one another. The study found that while the measurement of the Gender Self-Socialization Model did not accurately predict the development of body image dissatisfaction in men, there is an important relationship between Gender Role Conflict, body image ideals, and body satisfaction in men generally.en_US
